born and raised in the northern VA but rooted in Nigerian heritage, ijeoma s. nwatu is the founder and owner of ijeoma & co., a digital consultancy with a focus on social media & PR. she counts ujamaa box, jocelyndelk adams, dominion electric supply inc., dc web women, and more as clients.
previously she worked as senior community manager the integrated marketing agency, HZDG, where she oversaw social strategy, execution and analytics for major corporate accounts including NVR and Maidenform. she also launched and executed the agency's first company-wide hackathons. additionally, she was handpicked to manage day-to-day operations of one of DC’s creative coworking spaces, Canvas.
prior to her agency role, ijeoma was hired as the first marketing manager at Startup Institute New York upon completion of the technical marketing program. as a student at the inaugural startup institute new york program, ijeoma founded the women’s initiative bringing the likes of Hilary Mason (bitly) , Vanessa Hurst (Girl Develop It) and Natalia Oberta (Pipeline Fellows) through its doors.
